Wintering by Katherine May

Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May

Started: 1.9.25

Finished: 25.9.25

Paperback

I don't think I really took anything in from this book. I thought it was about learning to let yourself have still, quiet times in life, sort of like hunkering down and hibernating, not necessarily in the winter, but just any time you need to. All I can really remember from it is the author talking about her husband being ill, and how her busy life had to come to a bit of a standstill to look after him and the rest of the family. It's a book that got rave reviews, but somehow it all went over my head.

Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman

Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman

Started: 1.9.25

Finished: 20.9.25

Paperback

This was the September choice for the Thrive Book Club. It revolved around antiques and Greek myth and isn't something I'd have chosen, but I did quite enjoy it in the end, and I enjoyed the book club discussion.

Bat Eater and Other Names For Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker

I had really high hopes for this book after seeing some positive BookTube reviews, but I found it to be quite a slog, I'm afraid. I get that Cora witnessed something incredibly traumatic, and the pandemic was a terrifying time for so many of us, but there were times when I really wished she'd stop moping around! It took right up to the last couple of chapters for her to finally get the 'kick up the bum' (so to speak) that she needed! The ghosts were not my kind of scary ghosts, but they were intriguing, nonetheless.
